I begin with priming a canvas.
The act of painting non-representational color and form triggers movement in my psyche.

Erin is an award-winning artist, teacher, and author, from Big Sur, California. Her paintings are shown nationally and collected internationally.
Erin teaches creativity and painting workshops online and in person. Her workshops explore the connection between art-making and mindfulness.
She teaches regularly at Rancho La Puerta in Baja California, Mexico, and at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. In response to the challenges of Covid-19 she and her husband Tom Birmingham launched a free instructional channel for painters on YouTube, Awaken The Artist Within.
In 2008, Erin was honored as a Champion of the Arts by the Monterey Council for the Arts and the State of California. She is an artist member of the Carmel Art Association.
She is the author of “Color Duets, Kaffe Fassett and Erin Lee Gafill,” a coffee table book that serves as a catalog to the upcoming 2021 exhibition at the Monterey Museum of Art. Her memoir Drinking from a Cold Spring, a Little Book of Hope, explores life/work balance.
